Architecture Images

A selection of architectural images; in this context, I use architecture as to meaning external design and appearence, whereas I refer to rooms, furniture, etc as ‘interior’. Architecture, by my definition, includes any buildings, so you may see some of my pictures classified as both architecture and landscape; there are also a number of images taken at weddings.

Please see my gallery pages if you’d like to purchase any of these images (note that not all the images seen in my portfolios can necessarily be offered for sale, particularly portraits). Click on the Chasing Rays Photography album to see all my portfolio categories. For social media,

    Lockington Church

    8th May, 2011

For me, this image of Lockington Church was taken on a very special day - my first wedding anniversary. My wife and I spent the day touring the places we'd been to on our wedding day; the KP Club at Pocklington, where we ate a small lunch, then onwards to Lockington Church where we'd held our wedding ceremony in a full church (about 90 people). My wife loves this picture.

  • Ribblehead Arches

    Ribblehead Arches

    25th August, 2012

This image was taken just under the Ribblehead Viaduct and just shows the scale of this iconic piece of Yorkshire architecture by comparison with the small figures just under its base. The image is nicely set off by the classic landscape that can be seen in the background, showing just what a desolate area the viaduct was constructed in.

    Castle Guard Towers

    28th March, 2012

This image is taken pointing towards Prague Castle from the western side of the Charles Bridge, pointing nearly in the direction of the Castle itself, and shows the Castle Side Guard Tower; I particularly liked the moon in the background.

  • Lover's Violin

    Lovers’ Violin

    28th March, 2012

This picture was one I just had to take - a couple sharing a quiet moment on the Charles Bridge by the beautiful classical music being played by a violinist in the foreground of the image, who glanced over at them to see the effect of his music. The violinist was one of the people who make a part of their living by plying their trade along the side of the Charles Bridge; in the background you can see, in the distance, the twin towers of the Tyn Cathedral in Old Town Square.

  • Prague Castle at Night from Charles Bridge

Prague Castle at Night from Charles Bridge

    28th March, 2012

One of the most iconic scenes in Prague is the outline of the castle, in this image as seen from the Charles Bridge; the figurines on the bridge edges are just visible on the left of the picture. Both black and white and colour versions of this image work well, but the black and white version seems to suit the Gothic architecture of the city more.

  • Tyn Cathedral by Night

    Tyn Cathedral by Night

    28th March, 2012

The Gothic design in Prague was certainly not done by halves, as can be seen here by the incredible Tyn Cathedral that overlooks the Old Town Square. The design of the roofs just by themselves is amazing to see; here, I took a night shot, handheld with my old Nikon D300s, that accentuates their design through a slight rim lighting and provides a beautiful contrast with the main lighting on the Cathedral walls.
